  • 1.  short case on international management

    Dear colleagues,

May I request your help concerning the following.

I am giving a lecture on cross-cultural management and I would like to put the students in a situation of solving a management problem. The case study is only about observing how students from different cultures deal with decision making.

I would be grateful if you could provide advice and/or a short case for this exercise.

    Many  thanks in advance.

    Philippe

    Philippe,

If you look at chapter 6, Cross-cultural Negotiations, in my 2008 Sage book, Paradoxes of Culture and Globalization, there is a discussion of best practices, theory, a few critical incidents, and then the use of a relatively short case, "Entering the Chinese Market," with the answers to the questions asked provided in the remainder of the chapter.  Good luck.

I am developing a new case based on the experience of some firms in emerging markets.

With more details,  and highlighting real companies, this exercise could be used for international entry strategies. Also, we can observe differences among students from different nations on their choices. Feel free to add or make changes, if you like.
