Please join us in co-creating an experiential learning environment for developing cross cultural competence!
How do we develop the cross cultural competence of leaders, managers, and employees so they may operate in today’s and tomorrow’s organizations? How do we effectively teach and research the complex subjects of cross cultural management, cultural awareness, and cultural intelligence? Within a world both flattening and connecting, firms are fast becoming complex, culturally mixed “salads.” People working in any firm type or size—whether board members, senior leaders, middle managers, field or support employees, knowledge or line workers, or entrepreneurs—must connect, communicate, collaborate, and compete with others who are both culturally unlike themselves yet similar in basic core human values. Developing cross cultural competence requires people to gain cross cultural experience through: becoming culturally-aware, learning skills, defining and applying values, and developing an ongoing cultural practice.
In this innovative and multi-faceted workshop, we create an experiential learning environment where participants practice methods and follow an effective learning process for teaching, learning, and researching cross cultural competence. We present a unique cross cultural competence model. We employ multiple learning modalities (e.g. proverbs, storytelling, music, video) and an expert panel, reflection, dialogue, and exercises to engage teacher/educators, academicians, and reflective practitioners (who work in cross cultural environments) to: 1) develop personal competence; 2) be curious of cultural differences and similarities in others; 3) practice effective communication skills 4) reflect on, experiment with, and adapt learned cultural styles to different contexts; 5) learn effective teaching/learning methods; and 6) propel the field along a new trajectory of teaching/learning, scholarship, and practice.
Pre-registration is not necessary!
