Possible Panel on Business and Peace at Academy of International Business (UK&Ireland Chapter) Conference 6-8 April 2017
I am attempting to gauge the level of interest in being part of an interdisciplinary panel on "International Business and Peace" at the Academy of International Business (UK&Ireland Chapter) Conference at Henley Business School, University of Reading 6-8 April 2017. The theme of the overall conference is "Are we seeing the tail-end of globalization?" As I see it, the panel would bring together IB and IM scholars along with other social scientists who do research on the role of business in promoting peace. These other social scientists would include political scientists and business and economic historians (I fall into the last category). In view of the recent geopolitical developments that can be interpreted as increasing resistance to globalization, it might be an appropriate time to discuss the current research in many disciplines about Business and Peace. If you are planning to be at this conference already and do work in the area of Business and Peace/capitalist peace theory it would make sense for you to be part of this panel discussion. Theoretical and empirical papers would both be welcome.
Proposals for panels need to be submitted by 24 January. Panel sessions serve as discussion forums for issues of contemporary interest to IB scholars. They are 120-minutes sessions organized as a single submission by the panel chair around a common theme. (I would be the panel chair). Proposals must include: the proposed title of the Panel Session the organizer(s), contact information and affiliations the relevance of the proposed Panel Session to the 44th AIB UKI and 6th Reading IB conference, and the significance of the related contributions (max 1000 words) the participants' contact information, affiliations, presentation/paper titles and short abstracts (max 100 words per abstract).
If you would be interested in being part of this Panel, please send me an abstract, paper title, and contact details.
