Call for Applications for Doctoral Studentships
The Innova Institute of La Salle, Ramon Llull University (https://www.salleurl.edu/en) is seeking to recruit 3 doctoral students in the fields of innovation, entrepreneurship and management.
Innova Institute, also known as the GREITM (Research Group in Entrepreneurship Management and Technologically Based Innovation) conducts research in the field of management, with a focus on technology-based organizations or on organizations, communities, and societal groups where technology is a key factor in productivity and competitiveness. Main research areas are management of technology and digital transformation; innovation management; management of organizations in VUCA environments; entrepreneurship for technology-based ventures; digital marketing; and project management in the contemporary competitive setting.
The goal of the Innova Institute LaSalle doctoral programme is to train students to conduct high quality international-level research into digital innovation and entrepreneurship and prepare them for challenging jobs both inside and outside of academia.
The Innova Institute is particularly seeking candidates with the following interests:
Platform and Ecosystem Dynamics: Platform ecosystem-based entrepreneurship and competition is becoming more increasingly prevalent in today's economy, and there is a growing scholarship investigating how firms operate in such environments, and how platforms and ecosystems can be created and managed. We are looking for candidates whose research interests lie primarily in the dynamics of the digital economy, specifically considering the interdependencies, governance and value processes embodied in the multilevel multi-stakeholder and technological complexity of digital platforms and ecosystems.
Digitalization: Digitalization is of increasing impact in the global economy. We are interested in candidates who wish to investigate in depth theories of innovation, entrepreneurship and strategic management, with an emphasis on the digital entrepreneur or intrapreneur and on market development strategies and business models.
Social Enterprise: Entrepreneurs are increasingly taking advantage of business models and products that are built upon social principles. We are interested in candidates who wish to investigate typologies of social enterprises, scalability of social enterprises across diverse locations, determinants of born global social enterprises, the trade-off between financial and social performance in international social enterprises, the finance of international social enterprises, the governance between public and private organizations (Public private partnerships).
The Innova Institute invites applications for three four-year doctoral student positions. Ideally positions will start September 1st, 2018. The positions are primarily targeted for students completing their doctoral studies within four years, as such maximum funding period is limited to 48 months. Students who have already started their doctoral studies may also apply, but the maximum duration of the funding in these cases will be dependent upon the current stage of the doctoral training.
In addition to the information provided in the required documents, the selection of students for the positions will be based on the feasibility and scientific merit of their research proposal and on the academic/professional qualifications, as demonstrated in the quality of their previous academic studies and possibly in their past career experience. The research proposal (max 10 pages) should contain sections on the relevant prior literature of the research topic, the intended contribution of the planned research, and methods to be applied. A Curriculum Vitae (max 5 pages) describing previous studies and past career experience should also be included in the application.
