Dear Colleagues,
Would you like to be a part of a historic event? Join us as technology shapes the future of the hospitality and tourism industries.
The M3 Center for Hospitality Technology and Innovation (M3 Center) at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, USA, together with Hoa Sen University (HSU), Vietnam, and Association of North America Higher Education International (ANAHEI) would like to invite you to the inaugural think tank on the future of the hospitality and tourism industry in 2030 (HT2030). The think tank will take place on October 1, 2018, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
More Info/Interest form: https://anahei.org/thinktank/
The way we shop for and experience travel, buy and sell services, co-create experiences, share our likes and dislikes is changing as technology integrates into our personal and professional lives. The trends that we currently observe are telling us that technology will continue to impact the hospitality and tourism industry in the years to come. The advancement of robots, augmented reality, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, smart cities, self-driving cars, trains that can travel 1000+ km/hour, planes that cost less, consume less gas and travel faster are all part of what we experience in 2018. The next decade is going to bring a lot of changes. These changes mean a lot to educators, professionals, government officials, and consumers. We all need to keep a close eye on the trends in our industry. Educators need to know them so that they can prepare the future generations for the jobs that do not exist today but will be created soon. Professionals need to know these trends so that they can integrate them into their products and services. Governments need to know them so that policies and laws will be adapted to the new realities (e.g., accepting cryptocurrencies, preventing cyber-crimes).
HT2030 is an invitation-only event where the thought leaders will identify the trends that will shape the hospitality and tourism industry. The goal of this think tank is to create a research agenda for hospitality and tourism academicians. A white paper will be published after the think tank. In addition, discussions from different tracks will result in manuscripts that can be published in the Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology (JHTT) (ESCI, Scopus Indexed).
HT2030 will take place on October 1st, 2018 as part of the GLOSEARCH Conference at Hoa Sen University. The think tank will include representatives from academia and hospitality professionals. There is no registration fee for the participants of the HT2030, however, participants will be responsible for their own travel expenses to attend HT2030 on October 1, 2018 at Hao Sen University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. All participants of HT2030 will be given a complimentary access to Global Conference on Business, Hospitality and Tourism Research (GLOSEARCH) that will take place on Oct 2-5, 2018 at Hao Sen University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (for GLOSEARCH, please visit https://anahei.org/glosearch/)
The main themes/tracks will be:
Leadership in the Digital Age
Travel 2030
Lodging 2030
Destination 2030
Gastronomy 2030
Smart City 2030
Alternative Tourism 2030 (e.g., space tourism, culinary tourism, dark tourism)
Technology (e.g. social media, AR/VR, Robots)
Sustainability
Hospitality Education
Main objectives of each theme/track will be:
to identify major forces driving change and to estimate the timing of these changes, and
to generate a series of research questions for academicians (to help the industry cope with these changes better).
