    Posted 09-18-2011 22:38
    Dear all:
On behalf of SMS and Florida Atlantic University, I invite you to attend the "Emerging Markets:  Research and Pedagogy Issues" Extension on November 10, 2011 (immediately after the main SMS conference in Miami).  You may participate in this Extension *without* attending the main SMS conference.  Doctoral students and junior faculty are welcome!

    REGISTRATION
There is a US$ 85.00 registration fee (for current SMS members) which must be paid directly to SMS via the following link:   http://miami.strategicmanagement.net/registration/extensions.php.  The fee is slightly higher for General members and those registering after October 24.  The registration fee includes complimentary transportation from/to the Loews Miami Beach Hotel (the main SMS conference hotel), a light lunch, and coffee/snacks.

    PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The day-long Extension will focus on Emerging markets, with emphasis on BRIC nations.  Participants will have an opportunity to engage interactively with leading scholars (and peers!) about important 'Emerging market' research and teaching issues. Panelists will offer insights into how phenomena in Emerging markets can be leveraged to benefit scholarship and pedagogy.  Program details can be found at:  http://miami.strategicmanagement.net/boca_raton_extension.php

    PANELISTS
Panelists include a array of distinguished scholars, teachers and practitioners.  These include: Ilan Alon (Rollins College), Aya Chacar (Florida International), Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra (Northeastern), Bob Hoskission (Rice), Hemant Merchant (Florida Atlantic), Ram Mudambi (Temple), Ronaldo Parente (Florida International), Andreas Raharso (HayGroup), Laszlo Tihanyi (Texas A&M).

    AUDIENCE
This Extension would be of interest to academics as well as practitioners interested in learning more about competition from/in Emerging markets.  The interactive nature of this event would particularly benefit PhD students, junior academics, as well as those recently introduced to the Emerging markets phenomenon.

    QUESTIONS
Please direct your questions to Prof. Hemant Merchant (Florida Atlantic) at:  merchant@fau.edu.

Look forward to seeing you in Boca Raton!
    -Hemant.
