The Department of Management and International Business in the College of Business at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania is seeking applicants for two full-time tenure-track positions, Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management (OB/HRM), and/or International Business (IB) (AA# 93-6-101 and AA# 93-6-102) at the Assistant/Associate level beginning Fall 2017. Bloomsburg University serves about 10,000 students and is located in a picturesque small town in beautiful north central Pennsylvania, approximately 50 miles southwest of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and 30 miles west of the Pocono Mountains. The area boasts excellent public schools with an affordable cost of living and abundant lifestyle opportunities. New York, Philadelphia, and Baltimore-Washington metro centers are all within a few hours' drive.
The College of Business (COB) is accredited by AACSB with 40+ full-time tenured/tenure track faculty serving 1,700 students. The COB offers three graduate programs: Master of Accountancy, Master in Business Education, and Master of Business Administration. The Master in Information Technology Management program is proposed to be offered in 2017. The COB's Zeigler Institute for Professional Development (ZIPD) offers a comprehensive educational experience designed to build the personal and professional capacities necessary for career success through training and education in business etiquette, professional attire, interviewing, networking, and resume writing. The COB has recently opened a new location in Center City, Philadelphia to offer its Certificate of Management and Fast-track and Professional MBA programs. It has received multi-million dollar donations from alumni to expand its programs especially in International Business, Supply Chain Management, and Professional Sales. The Global Business Institute has been established to manage a potentially new International Business major and international programs.
The Department is seeking qualified individuals to teach a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate management courses for each position, including but not limited to: OB/HRM: Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Employee Staffing, Compensation Management, Labor and Industrial Relations, and/or IB: Global Business, International Management, Managing Multicultural Organizations. Interested individuals should possess high proficiency and interest in teaching. Academic requirements include an earned doctorate by no later than December 31, 2017 in management or related field from an accredited institution. AACSB accreditation is preferred. Qualifications to teach effectively in management courses and a record of, or strong evidence of potential for, scholarly activity are preferred. Scholarly activity, student advising, and service are integral parts of this faculty position. Demonstrated ability to work with and/or knowledge of diverse populations is preferred. Related business experience is desirable.
Duties will include teaching classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level, advising, research, and service activities. Instructional delivery may occur through traditional, on-line, and alternative instructional methods and can take place on the main campus or off site educational locations. Voluntary summer and winter contracts may be available.
Finalists must communicate well and successfully complete the interview process, teaching demonstration, and research presentation as judged by the department faculty. Recommendation for hiring by the majority of the regular, full-time department faculty will be made to the Dean. Prior to a final offer of employment, the selected candidates will be required to submit to a background check, including, but not limited to, employment verification, educational and other credential verification, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and criminal background check.
