The purpose of this workshop is to help generate ideas for how scholars can engage meaningfully with the nature and consequences of digitization and disintermediation in their internationalization research. While digitization is fundamentally changing the nature of entrepreneurial opportunities in the global economy, and the ways that firms are internationalizing to pursue these opportunities, it is surprisingly absent from most current research questions and research designs. This workshop will showcase new kinds of research questions and explore how they impact existing theories and methods. The presenters are all explicitly incorporating ideas about digitization in their own international business research, and collectively represent diverse perspectives: established and emerging scholars, strategy and marketing scholars, and scholars focused on new ventures and multinationals. The workshop will be highly interactive, with opportunities for participation throughout.
We hope to see you there!
