Dear Colleagues,
I would like to invite you to our EIBA Annual Meeting workshop entitled:
Transition toward a Sustainable Economy: Opportunities and Challenges for MNEs
Session P2.1.1
Time: 9:00-10:30 on Friday December 15th
Place: BL 27.06 (Building 27 of Politecnico di Milano)
Multinational enterprises (MNEs) are at the forefront of the transition towards a more sustainable economy and in the Information Age, their actions are under increasing scrutiny. However, we have only started to examine the specific opportunities and challenges sustainability represents for MNEs. This panel will provide an interactive forum for scholars interested in developing research in this area to discuss the current state of research, explore new avenues, and strengthen scholarly networks.
Participants will be organized into small-group roundtables to examine specific MNE activities affected by the sustainable transition. Established international business and sustainability researchers will moderate the roundtables and elicit participants' input about the state of research in this area, new research questions, and innovative methodologies. The panel will conclude by summarizing the findings of each roundtable, and offering guidance on current research directions.
Our panelists include:
- Christiane Bode (Bocconi University)
- Elisa Giulani (University of Pisa)
- Daniel Shapiro (Simon Fraser University)
- Maurizio Zollo (Bocconi University)
While pre-registration for this workshop is not mandatory,
we kindly ask that you email your expression of interest by November 30, 2017 to Anne Jacqueminet (
anne.jacqueminet@unibocconi.it). In your message, please include your affiliation and your two top choices of roundtable topics from those listed below (roundtable assignments will be based on a first come – first serve basis).
Each Moderator will facilitate discussion by helping participants to:
(a) Take stock of how that specific theme has been discussed in the literature;
(b) Look ahead and develop a list of new questions that are consistent with that theme;
(c) Discuss innovative methodologies that could be used to pursue these questions.
Roundtable topics:- Human resource management (e.g. labor practices across borders, employee engagement, employee volunteerism). Moderated by Christiane Bode
- Value chain management (e.g. sustainable value chain, supplier social certification, operations in emerging markets). Moderated by Elisa Giulani
- Innovation and Strategy (e.g. green innovation, the impact and future of natural resources, role of government). Moderated by Daniel Shapiro
- Corporate governance (e.g. stakeholder governance, stakeholder engagement, value distribution). Moderated by Maurizio Zollo
I hope to see you there and look forward to hearing from you!
Warm Regards,
