Lancaster University Management School, Lancaster, UK: April 67, 2017

Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Faculty of Business, Hong Kong: June 2930, 2017

The Editors of the Academy of Management Journal (AMJ) invite submissions for three paper and idea

development workshops. The purpose of these workshops is to develop ideas for papers that could later be

submitted for review in AMJ's Special Research Forum (SRF) on "NEW WAYS OF SEEING: Using Novel Theory

and Meaningful Crossdisciplinary Collaborations to Advance Management Research."

    About the Special Research Forum:

This Special Research Forum (SRF) encourages "new ways of seeing." This theme challenges our community of

researchers, and beyond, to consider fresh, novel, and different theoretical positions, assumptions, and

frameworks that expose and empirically examine new phenomena or permit new ways of seeing wellresearched

phenomena. In addition, new ways of seeing may also provide an impetus to engage in meaningful,

ground‐breaking partnerships with researchers in other disciplines-using, building, or extending conceptual

frameworks, research designs, and analytic techniques rooted in disciplines outside of the management

domain to advance our understanding of management issues. Although we encourage novelty in theorizing

and methods, we will uphold AMJ's standards of logical and empirical rigor. The full Call for Papers can be

    found here:

    http://aom.org/Publications/AMJ/Call‐for‐Papers‐‐Special‐Research‐Forum.aspx

    About the Workshops:

The workshops will be 1.5 day events and will include presentations by AMJ's editorial team as well as

presentations and roundtable discussions from participants.

    Application to the Workshops:

Interested scholars should submit an extended abstract (between 5 and 10 pages of text) of their project

proposals by the workshop deadline to Jason Shaw (jason.shaw@polyu.edu.hk). Participation on the program

is competitive and attendance is by invitation only; space is limited. In order to maximize the number of

projects discussed at the event only one author per project will be able to attend. The abstract should provide

a synopsis of the theoretical frame and/or theory, the empirical approach, and how it is aligned with the "new

ways of seeing" theme. Please contact Jason D. Shaw (jason.shaw@polyu.edu.hk) with questions and inquiries.

Western University, Ivey School of Business: April 9, 2017
