    Doctoral Workshop

The Strategic Management Society (SMS) is pleased to announce a Doctoral Workshop will be held March 10, 2011 preceding the SMS Special Conference in Rio. We invite advanced doctoral students in Strategic Management and related areas to apply. The workshop is targeted towards doctoral students from throughout Latin America, but is open to all students interested in the strategic management field. The main objective of the SMS Rio 2011 Doctoral Workshop is to provide a supportive setting where participants can:
    • Receive direct advice regarding the structure of their current research project
    • Receive guidance on how to publish their research in the most appropriate outlets
    • Develop their research interests in a unique interactive workshop
    • Broaden their academic network with senior faculty as well as other current doctoral students
Each doctoral student proposal should submit a 2-page proposal, clearly stating the research objectives, the design (methodology and approach, with a clear indication of why certain data collection and data analysis procedures seem to be appropriate to the type of research objectives), results (actual or expected), and expected implications/contributions to theory and practice. Complete submissions will also include applicants CV as well as an outline of their research interests. Proposals must be submitted to the SMS Special Conference Rio website by November 30, 2010. We will give preference to proposals that offer a clear research question, a coherent if concise preliminary review of the literature and theory propositions, as well as preliminary ideas about the methodology and (expected) results.

The workshop is being organized under the guidance of: Jorge Carneiro, Sergio Lazzarini, Luiz Mesquita and Bob Hoskisson.
