AOM participants interested in Latin American research are also encouraged to attend the topically related PDW - Asking About Management Research In Latin America: Where Is It Now And Where Should It Be? – scheduled from 9:30 AM to 12:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 10 in Convention Center Room 202A.
Session presenters/facilitators (in alphabetical order) include:
Galen Kroeck, Florida International University
William Newburry, Florida International University
Karen Paul, Florida International University
Juan Sanchez, Florida International University
Mary Ann Von Glinow, Florida International University
The workshop will consist of two parts. First, each of the session presenters will briefly overview their respective research findings regarding the management of companies in the Latin American context. In essence, this portion of the presentation addresses questions that we as scholars have already asked in our individual research efforts related to Latin America.
Second, presenters and attendees will discuss what they perceive to be the most important future research questions regarding management in the Latin American region, as well as the most important issues faced by researchers in this area. Potential questions to be discussed during this portion of the session include:
• What are the most important questions to ask in terms of research in Latin America?
• What methodological difficulties do researchers in this area face, and how can these be overcome?
• To what extent can Latin American research be informed by research from other emerging markets (e.g. China) as well as developed market research?
• To what extent can Latin American research inform gaps in existing research, and how can Latin American researchers best position their research in general research settings?
Pre-registration is not required, but feel free to contact Bill Newburry at
newburry@fiu.edu if you have any questions about the session. We look forward to seeing you in Anaheim!
