    Position Announcement: Business Policy
     

    The Logistics, Business and Public Policy department of the Robert H. Smith School of Business, <st1:place><st1:placetype>University</st1:placetype> of <st1:placename>Maryland</st1:placename></st1:place> at <st1:city><st1:place>College Park</st1:place></st1:city>, has an opening for a tenure track faculty member at any level to begin in August 2007.

    Requirements include a Ph.D. in an appropriate area (economics, strategy, international business), an active research program, and demonstrated effectiveness in the classroom.  Preference will be given to candidates approaching strategy and/or international business from an economic perspective. The ideal candidate will have one or more research publications and teaching experience.  Primary teaching responsibilities will include applied micro and/or macro economics at the MBA level using the case method and with a strong emphasis on applications critical for business. Compensation, teaching load, and the research environment for the position are all very attractive.

    The Logistics, Business and Public Policy (LBPP) department of the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of  Maryland at College Park, has an opening for a tenure track faculty member in business economics / strategy at the Assistant or Associate Professor level to begin in August 2016.

    Current faculty members in business economics (which resides within the LBPP department) include Wilbur Chung, Cristian Dezso, Curt Grimm, Rachelle Sampson, Bob Windle, Peter Morici, and Bennet Zelner. The business economics faculty have strong ties to strategy faculty in other departments, including Rajshree Agarwal, Brent Goldfarb, David Kirsch and Dave Waguespack. Current business economics faculty research topics include environmental sustainability and firm strategy, firm location strategy, comparative capitalist systems and corporate governance, the effects of 
    renewable energy policies on innovation, formal modeling in strategy, and the impact of managers on corporate policies and performance. Incumbent will be expected to teach courses, conduct research and perform service.

    The University of Maryland is located in the greater Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area. The College Park campus is located nine miles from the U.S. Capitol, with convenient access to downtown DC via the Washington Metro subway system as well and also downtown Baltimore (which is 30 miles away). The ideal candidate will have teaching and research interests in economics-based strategy. Teaching will be at the MBA and/or undergraduate level, with the use of the case method and a strong emphasis on applications critical for business. Incumbent will be expected to teach courses, conduct research and perform service.
