****Apologies for cross-posting****
Colleagues,
I am seeking participants for a 2018 SIOP symposium that investigates the seeming paradox of China's impressive GDP growth and increase in individual income yet stagnant levels of life and job satisfaction (willing to expand this to well-being in general depending on submissions).
Potential topics (not limited to these of course):
*Multilevel analysis of national, city, and individual life and job satisfaction
*Panel data analysis across time in post-reform china on employee well-being
*Longitudinal studies of happiness among employees in pre versus post reform China
*Qualitative analysis of individual employee job and life satisfaction after the reforms
*Measurement issues in life and job satisfaction in China
*Tests of theoretical models that explain the discord between wealth and happiness in China
Interest in Industrial-Organizational Psychology topics in China has grown in recent years, with special issues in OBHDP, Social Indicators Research, and others. Therefore I think there is a growing readership in this area.
Specific relevance to SIOP 2018:
The SIOP 2018 committee is encouraging submissions that highlight multidisciplinary approaches. In this symposium I would especially encourage submissions that combine macro economic data with individual well-being in post-reform china, which I believe fits the criteria of multidisciplinary (i.e., economics and organizational behavior).
