This PDW is for you. Join us Friday morning for an engaging workshop on the topic of strategic human capital. Strategic human capital encompasses several domains of interest to the Academy's membership, to include human resources, organizational behavior, strategic management, careers, management education and development, and organizational behavior, and offers new insights into agency, behavioral, transaction-cost, and resource-based theories at multiple levels of analysis. This PDW will provide you with promising directions for your own high-quality research on this topic.
New challenges. Strategic human capital poses new challenges to researchers in (1) expanding the domain of strategic human resource management, especially with regard to the multi-stage processes of attracting, recruiting, hiring, developing, and retaining such individuals; (2) measuring, monitoring, and properly rewarding these individuals – the strategic human capital they use to create firm competitive advantages put them in the most opportunistic position to appropriate the disproportionate returns they help to create; and (3) understanding the "dark side" – performance disadvantages – of strategic human capital. There are abundant examples of high-talent, high-profile "mega stars" whose undesirable behaviors severely harmed firm performance and reputation. These challenges are focal to this PDW.

We hope to see you there!
