ANNOUNCING
2019 Academy of Management Review
Theory Paper Development "Hackathon" Workshop
February 22 and 23, 2019
Forty-eight hours in February-a unique opportunity for management theorists to develop their work for possible publication in AMR. During the "hackathon" workshop, participants will meet with AMR Associate Editors and Editorial Review Board members-several times over the two-day schedule-to discuss, revise, and improve successive versions of their theory papers.
Those interested in participating in the workshop need to submit a complete theory paper (no paper proposals, please) no later than December 10, 2018.
Submit a paper.
Please note that registering and submitting a paper does not guarantee acceptance to the "hackathon."
AMR editor-in-chief, Jay Barney, will choose the papers that will be invited to the "hackathon." Any paper that would be considered for publication in AMR is eligible for the "hackathon"-so please make sure to follow AMR's Information for Contributors before submitting a paper.
Final selections will reflect
- The areas of expertise of AMR AEs and ERB members participating in the "hackathon" and
- The likelihood that a paper can be revised in a way that will make it publishable in AMR.
Papers that are already under review at AMR (or elsewhere) cannot be submitted to the "hackathon."
That a paper is accepted to and developed through the "hackathon" does not guarantee that it will ultimately be accepted and published in AMR. These papers will need to go through the same review process as any AMR submission. However, it is our hope that the "hackathon" experience will both improve those papers that are chosen for the workshop, and the theory development skills of those attending.
