Dear Daniel,
You mentioned M&A simulations and also posted this query on the business policy and strategy list. So, you might be interested in the Simulation & Gaming article that I co-authored with Chang and Sanford, "Mergers and Acquisitions in a Business Game," available from Sage online-before-print at http://sag.sagepub.com/content/early/2013/10/01/1046878113503419.full.pdf+html and abstract at http://sag.sagepub.com/content/early/2013/10/01/1046878113503419.
The simulation itself combines international business with policy/strategy. The demo version can be downloaded and installed on a Windows computer from http://pages.towson.edu/precha/geo. Select the link: Install GEO Demo. To engage the M&A function, do the follows:
1. Register, with a real or fictitious name.
2. Start your life by bidding for all five products, from Service to Food.
3. Found a company (main menu: Action >> Found Company)
4. Direct the company you founded to submit a takeover bid (main menu: Action >> Direct Company >> Acquisition tab >> Trade Stock & Takeover Company button >> select target >> Takeover Bid button >> enter takeover terms >> Submit Bid button).
Then it's up to the target company's directors (other players) to vote on your takeover bid. If they approve, you click the Execute Takeover button, and it's done.
The M&A issues covered include financing, valuating the target, method of execution, and dealing with the target's management, who are real people, i.e., players.
Best,
Precha

Dear colleagues,
I am currently developing an Executive MBA course on Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As), with emphasis on the international dimension of these transactions. Could you please kindly share any teaching materials for such a course (on M&As in general, and international M&As in particular), such as syllabi, case studies, additional readings, exercises and assignments, M&A simulations etc., if available. I would appreciate any recommendations you might have.
Thank you in advance for your help!
Best,
Daniel
