ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP
OLD DOMINION UNIVERSITY
The Department of Management of the College of Business & Public Administration at Old Dominion University invites applications from qualified candidates for one (1) tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Entrepreneurship area starting in August 2012. Responsibilities include teaching primarily entrepreneurship and other management courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, research resulting in scholarly articles, and service to the University, community, and profession. Qualifications for the position include: (1) an earned doctorate (by August 2012) in Management from an AACSB accredited institution, with emphasis in Entrepreneurship; (2) evidence of effective teaching; (3) evidence of a strong research agenda. Preference will be given to candidates with refereed publications in the field and/or presentations at national and international conferences. In addition, the ideal candidate will have training and interest in one of the following secondary areas within management: Strategic Management/International Business/Organizational Theory.
Old Dominion University (ODU) is located in Norfolk, VA, about 200 miles southeast of Washington, D. C. Founded in 1930 as the Norfolk Division of the College of William & Mary (W&M), ODU separated from W&M in 1962 and became an independent institution. The 188-acre main campus is located close to downtown Norfolk and the Norfolk Naval Station, the largest naval base in the world. Nearby Virginia Beach, the largest city in Virginia, has 36 miles of some of the best beaches on the Atlantic Ocean and Chesapeake Bay and is a major year-round tourist center on the East Coast. Located nearby are historic Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg.
The College of Business & Public Administration is fully accredited by AACSB - The International Association for Management Education; has more than 3,700 students enrolled in bachelors', masters' and doctoral programs; and is one of six colleges on campus that provides state-of-the art instructional technology. The Department of Management has 12 tenure-track faculty, many of whom have leadership positions within the university, scholarly journals and the Academy. They currently include: Barbara Bartkus, Paul Champagne, Diana Deadrick, Lance Frazier, William Q. Judge, Ryan Klinger, Soo-Hoon Lee, Shaomin Li, Sara Morris, Anil Nair, Mike Provance and George White.
The Department is actively involved in instruction at the undergraduate level as well as the graduate level (MBA program and doctoral program). The Department of Management has a very collegial and supportive environment which oversees a vibrant doctoral program in strategic management.
