Handbook of Research on Online Instruments, Data Collection and Electronic Measurements: Organizational Advancements

A book edited by Dr. Mihai C. Bocarnea (Regent University), Dr. Rodney A. Reynolds (Azusa Pacific University), and Dr. Jason D. Baker (Regent University)

    Introduction

Extending the beneficial research effort started with IGI Global's  Handbook of Research on Electronic Surveys and Measurement (http://www.igi-global.com/reference/details.asp?id=5070) published in 2006, this Handbook of Research will provide methodological insights and practical information on electronic measurements specific to organizational research, including management, leadership, and human research development. In addition to addressing the fundamentals of online measuring, the book will provide the specifics of over 25 organizational online instruments, including their web location.

    Objective of the Book

The handbook will assist organizational researchers and practitioners in understanding and using online data collection appropriately by providing the necessary methodological knowledge related to online research and by presenting information about the empirical quality and the availability and location of specific online instruments with proven validity and reliability. The collection of instruments provided in the handbook will help researchers assess, locate, and use electronic measurements in organizational management and leadership, including human research development.

    Target Audience

The target audience of this book will be composed of academics, researchers, consultants, and managers interested in advancing the theoretical understanding and the practical application of using electronic instruments addressing organizational attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors.

Recommended topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

The first section of the book will be dedicated to methodological issues related to online data collection (validity, reliability, sampling, and ethics).

The second section of the book consist of a series of 20-25 chapters which will address specific online organizational instruments, one instrument per chapter, with each chapter presenting (a) the theoretical background supporting the instrument, (b) its validity, (c) its reliability, (d) a brief summary of existing results, and (e) the web location of each instrument and a contact.  As a definition, electronic measurement is considered a system that allows collection of data from subjects by a computer or other type of electronic devices. Online measurements are electronic measurements in which data are collected via the internet.

The third section of the book will consist of a chapter which will address final considerations about online measurements in organizational research.

Multiculturalism: The Role, The Influence, and The Nature in The 21st Century Management

    A book edited by

Dr. Hamid H Kazeroony, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, Dr. Hetty van Emmerik, Maastricht University School of Business and Economics, The Netherlands, Dr. Mette Zølner, Copenhagen Business School Denmark, and Dr. Olga Kovbasyuk, Khabarovsk State Academy of Economics and Law, Russia.

    INTRODUCTION

This work will build on other colleagues on teaching, learning and examining the social, economic, and political consequences of multiculturalism in global business environment. Various studies have already explored best practices of multiculturalism in education in divided and/or diverse societies (McGlynn, 2009; Hikman, 2007; Martinez, 2005) and others who have addressed many aspects of multiculturalism in teaching, learning, and education as an intellectual activity and relating teaching to multiculturalism (Chennault, 2005; Dietz, 2009; Lawson, Livingston, & Mistrik, 2003; Hutchison, 2006). Additionally, other researchers have discussed (a) utilizing team tools to cement multicultural approach in work place (Mannix, & Neale, 2005); (b) overcoming obstacles such as terrorism in approaching multiculturalism (Mahajan, 2007); (c) managing cultural diversity to be a competitive advantage in technical fields (Richardson, 2005);(d) transforming monolithic societies into multicultural setting to reduce prejudices and open a society to new paradigm of thinking (Lim, 2010); (e) spreading of political ideologies in various countries which led to severe resistance to multiculturalism in the late 20th century.

OBJECTIVE OF THE BOOK/Development Workshop Group

This book/DWG constructs a new model for multicultural practices in organizations which considers gender, race, and diversity in organization as a part of individual cultural identity. Within this context, we will advance (1) a new model in analysis of individual cultural orientation and approach to multiculturalism, (2) a fresh approach to theoretical construct for examination of multiculturalism, (3) an examination of educational approaches to prepare new employees and executives in successfully operating in multicultural settings, and (4) new ways that organizations can overcome multicultural challenges to operate their businesses successfully-locally and globally.

    SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Researchers are invited to submit a 1-2 pages chapter proposal clearly explaining the focus and content areas of the proposed chapter. The deadline for chapter proposals is January 10, 2012.  Authors of accepted proposals will be notified by January 30, 2012 about the status of their proposals and will be sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by April 1,

2012. All submitted chapters will be reviewed using a double-blind review process. Contributors will be required to serve as reviewers for this project and present at EURAM conference June 6-8, 2012 in Rotterdam, Netherland (www.euram2012.nl).
