Join Us at AOM 2026 PDW: Firm Responsiveness in a Fragmented World: Stakeholders, Institutions, and Responsibility Boundaries
We are delighted to invite you to our Professional Development Workshop (PDW) at the AOM Annual Meeting 2026 in Philadelphia.
As firms operate in an increasingly fragmented world, they face competing demands from stakeholders, institutional environments, and global sustainability challenges. Organizations cannot respond equally to every issue or every stakeholder, making responsiveness inherently selective, constrained, and sometimes characterized by silence.
- Where should firms draw the boundaries of their responsibility?
- Why do firms respond to some stakeholders but not others?
- Whose voices remain unheard, and what does this mean for international business research?
This interactive PDW brings together leading scholars to explore these timely questions from complementary perspectives, including institutional complexity, global sustainability, organizational silence, and voiceless stakeholders. Together, we will discuss emerging theoretical perspectives, methodological opportunities, and promising directions for future research.
We are honored to be joined by an outstanding panel of scholars:
- Juan Bu (Indiana University)
- Valentina Marano (Northeastern University)
- Alvaro Cuervo-Cazurra (Northeastern University)
My co-organizer, Gianni De Bruyn (HKUST), and I (Yejee Lee, Auburn University) will also participate in the panel discussion and facilitate an interactive conversation with the audience.
📅 August 1 (Sat), 2026
🕗 8:00-9:30 AM
📍 Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown, Salon 9
Although it's an early morning session, we hope you'll consider starting your AOM with us! Whether your research focuses on international business, CSR, sustainability, stakeholder management, corporate governance, or organizations more broadly, we hope you'll join us for what promises to be an engaging discussion and an opportunity to connect with fellow scholars interested in these important questions.
We look forward to seeing you in Philadelphia!
